These Coir Grow Cubes are 10cm x 10cm squares of compressed coir in a biodegradable wrap. Simply add water and they will expand to provide ideal conditions for young plants – your plants will get a flying start because the coir compost has just the right balance of water and air for healthy root growth. Best of all when you come to planting out NO PLASTIC WASTE and NO RUBBISH TO CLEAR UP. These Coir Grow Cubes are PEAT FREE, are 100% biodegradable and eco friendly. Being peat-free they are better for the environment and your plants. Ideal for growing on plants grown in coir pellets (the hole in the top of the cube is the right size to drop it in), for growing on plug plants brought from garden centres, for sowing individual seeds into. - For growing on plants grown in Coir Pellets – Sow your seeds into a coir pellet and then once big enough, simply drop the coir pellet into the hole in the top of the Cube that is the exact size of a coir pellet. The plant can continue to grow with the roots able to grow through the biodegradable wrap and then once large enough the Grow Cubes can then be planted out into the garden, Coir Growbags / Coir Planter Bags without disturbing the roots.
- For larger seeds such as tomatoes simply drop 1 or 2 seeds into the top of the cube and cover with compost. Try sowing large seed such as sunflower, broad beans, runner beans etc direct into to the Cube.
- For cuttings of tender perennials such as fuchsias, geraniums, verbena etc. (many of the plants used in baskets and tubs through the summer will provide cuttings), push the cuttings into the coir pellets and place in a propagator or simply cover with a plastic bag and keep on a warm windowsill. They should root in 2-3 weeks.
