Featuring cane bee nesting tubes to attract solitary bees like the Red Mason Bee, Leafcutter Bee and other solitary bees. Solitary bees lay their eggs inside the nesting tubes and seal them with mud or chewed up vegetation, so it is easy to tell if it is being used. The following year the adults AND their offspring will use the same nest again building up the numbers of solitary bees visiting your garden each year. The roof is painted with water based green paint and is flat, so it is easy to position a pot of bee attracting plants on top i.e. Lavender. Site the solitary beehive 1-1.5 metres high, in a sheltered site which catches the morning sun and near scented plants. A mud supply is useful, but not essential. Special Offer and Ideal Gift – This Solitary Bee Log is ideal for attracting / encouraging solitary bees. Building-up the number of solitary bees visiting your garden each year will ensure pollination of your flowers, vegetable and herbs.  The hollowed out log is filled with nesting canes, which will attract solitary bees / beneficial insects to nest in.  Solitary bees are friendly bees are safe around children and pets (they rarely sting) and are excellent pollinators. The Red Mason Bee (Osmia rufa) is active in the garden from March to July and is responsible for pollinating top fruit and soft fruit. The Blue Orchard Bee (Osmia lignaria) is active in the garden from May to September and is an effective pollinator of summer flowers, herbs and vegetables.
