Cutworm Nematodes

Full Description

Cutworms are the larvae of moths and they commonly attack lawns but will attack lettuce, carrots, cabbage, potatoes. There can be several generations a year, but they tend to overwinter as caterpillars and feed continuously causing considerable damage especially in the spring and autumn- with their biting, chewing mouthparts, the cutworms feed on plant roots or destroy young plants cutting them off just above ground level. Cutworm caterpillars are 3-5 cm long, green, grey or brown with a dark head. When touched, the cutworms curl up in a spiral. Control cutworms by watering Cutworm Nematodes into the soil when the soil temp is 12°C /54°F and the pest is present i.e. normally March to Sept. 

Cutworm Nematodes contain natural Steinernema Carpocapsae nematodes, which are effective at controlling cutworms and are safe to use on food crops and are safe for children, pets and wildlife. It is supplied as a powder which is mixed with water and applied to the lawn / soil through a watering can fitted with a course Rose / NemaCan Watering Can or for larger areas use a EasyNem Applicator. The nematodes should be applied when the soil temp is 12°C /54°F and the pest is present (anytime between March and September). As with all nematodes, order when you are ready to apply as they are perishable. Each pack of Cutworm Nematodes treats 100 sqm – it must be used all at once once opened, so to treat a smaller area, just make the solution more concentrated (it is impossible to overdose).
