Organic Lawn Fertilsers - Organic lawn food is great value for money as you only need 3 applications a year unlike cheaper feeds which have to applied every 4-6 weeks and can therefore work out more expensive in the long run. Apply our Spring / Summer Fertiliser 2 times - once in the spring and in the summer and then apply a final application of the Autumn Fertiliser in Sept / Oct.
Organic Lawn Fertilsers - Every time you cut the grass and you remove the clippings, you remove the nutrients. In winter, the rain washes away nutrients from the soil. Your lawn gets hungry! With just 3 applications a year of our long lasting organic fertilisers you can keep your lawn looking good.
Spring / summer fertiliser - Apply this superb ORGANIC feed to give your lawn the very best - naturally. Contains nitrogen, phosphate and potash (15:4:10) plus trace elements together with beneficial bacteria - essential for helping the grass to take up nutrients. This fertiliser will give a quick boost to growth AND will keep on working for 3 months - apply twice in the spring and summer at a rate of 25grms per sqm.
Slow release AUTUMN lawn feed - This slow release fertiliser is ideal for feeding the lawn in the autumn. The high potash content (15:5:22) promotes good root growth and improves disease resistance. One application lasts 6 months so only 1 application is needed in Sept / Oct at a rate of 35g per sqm.
"I have just ordered some Autumn lawn feed. The first 2 lots are working well and we have a very noticeable improvement in the look of the lawn - so we want to treat some of the other lawn areas." many thanks Carolyn Oakley
N.B. Why not stock up on Lawn Food and save money? Lawn Food will keep from one year to the next, so why not take advantage of the huge savings on the larger pack and stock up or share with a neighbour?

New - Planting Biscuits containing Mycorrhizal Fungi - Give your plants the best start in life by adding a planting biscuit containing mycorrhizal fungi to the planting hole.
New - Planting Biscuits containing Mycorrhizal Fungi - These biscuits are formed from compressed coir fibre and contain Rootgrow mycorrhizal fungi, beneficial bacteria and slow release balanced fertilisers to give your plants the best start in life. When watered, the biscuit will swell up to 5 times its original size and all the beneficial microbes will start to grow, bringing the compost to life. The other components will provide a steady release of nutrients and trace elements for up to four months whilst the water retaining crystals will help prevent your compost drying out. These biscuits are very easy to use - simply pop one in the bottom of the planting hole and plant the plant on top. There is no waste as you use 1 biscuit per plant. There are two different biscuits available :-
- Basket / Container Biscuits - Your hanging basket and containers will never look better! Half fill the basket or container, evenly spread out the biscuits – for small baskets / pots (7 litres) add 2 biscuits and for larger baskets 15 litres use 3 or 4.

Vaminoc Mycorrhizal Fungi - Mycorrhizal fungi are naturally occuring beneficial soil fungi, which colonize the roots of plant and are essential for healthy plants. By adding these Mycorrhizal Fungi when seed sowing, laying a lawn or planting, a huge secondary root system of fungi will develop along side the plants own roots, which will supply nutrients and water to the plant for its entire lifetime. The Royal Horticultural Society recognise the importance of reducing our use of chemical fertilisers and acknowledge the benefits of using Mycorrhizal Fungi in the garden. Mycorrhizal Fungi fungi are supplied as granules which are either sprinkled in the planting hole before planting trees, roses or shrubs or added to potting compost when sowing seeds. N.B. For the 1st time Mycorrhizal Fungi can also be used to treat lawns.
N.B. Use Boost Treatments to add beneficial fungi to established plants, unlike Vaminoc Mycorrhizal Fungi which has to be added when planting - CLICK HERE to find out more!
Vaminoc Mycorrhizal Fungi - Adding fungi at the time of sowing / planting will benefit the plants, because the fungi's roots (pictured left - the fine white root system of the fungi around the plants own roots) are very efficient at extracting phosphates, water and minerals from the soil, which it transfers to the plants. Vaminoc contains the spores of the mycorhizal species Glomus intraradices. Mycorrhizal Fungi act like a permanent fertiliser, which results in more roots, so the plants grow faster (see pictures), vegetable yields increase and better plants have better drought and disease tolerance. You should also use Vaminoc Mycorrhizal Fungi when planting roses as it helps them to establish and to produce a good show of flowers. Mycorrhizal fungi will enable plants to establish and thrive even in difficult soils. In poor sandy soils the mycorrhizal fungi will be able to find scarce nutrients and hold onto water. In clay soils these fungi unlock nutrients -acting like a clay breaker.
Vaminoc Mycorrhizal Fungi - It is very important that the granules come into direct contact with the plant roots :-
- Planting trees, roses and shrubs - Sprinkle a teaspoon in the planting hole before planting trees, roses or shrubs. Place the plant in the hole directly on top of the granules. Backfill as normal with compost or soil.
- Sowing seeds - Add 25g per sqm to the compost before sowing seeds. This will lead to much stronger root production and stronger plants.
- Applying to an established lawn - Spike the lawn and apply 20g per sqm before brushing into the holes. Results in denser grass and helps lawns recover from stress.
- Laying a new lawn - Apply 20g per sqm to the soil BEFORE laying turf or seeding. This will lead to rapid establishment and better anchorage of the lawn.
How to use Vaminoc when sowing grass seed - We used Vaminoc when we wanted to re-seed a bank with grass - this is how we prepared the area and applied the Vaminoc. Knock down the soil to produce a level seed bed. If possible do this 10-14 days before you sow the grass seed to allow any weeds to germinate. Now hoe the weeds and then firm the soil using your feet. Rake the soil level and apply Vaminoc at the rate of 20g per square metre, raking it in lightly. Now sow the grass seed taking care to apply evenly over the surface of the soil. Again rake in lightly and then water.

Winter Green Manure Seeds - Ground left bare over the winter will just produce weeds. Why not sow a Green Manure which will not only stop the weeds gowing, but it will also hold goodness in the soil over the winter AND when you dig it in next spring it will fertilise the soil. These Green Manure Seeds should be sown in the autumn (before the soil temperature drops). Available again in autumn 2016.
Winter Green Manure Seeds - Green manure are plants that are grown to benefit the soil. Supplied as seed, they are sown onto bare soil in the autumn & then dug into the ground the following spring.
Doing this replaces soil nutrients, improves soil structure, increases humus content and suppresses weeds. Our Winter Green Manure Seed Mix contains 50% Common Vetch and 50% Winter Rye.
This mixture is fast growing producing a mass of weed smothering foliage. Vetch is a nitrogen producing legume and helps build soil fertility, while the Rye plants quickly develop a large fibrous root system which prevents the leaching of valuable nutrients during heavy winter rainfall. A green manure crop should be sown if an area of ground is going to be left free for six weeks or more. Evenly sow up to 50g of seed per sqm before raking and firming them in. Next spring, strim the crop just as the vetch plants flower and then turn the entire crop into the top six inches of soil. N.B. As with any seed the germination rate drops after 6 months, so please use the seeds within 6 months.
