Description

Details

Ladybirds are the best known beneficial insect and have a huge appetite for pests, so they can be used for clearing heavy infestations of pests i.e. aphids, spider mites, scale and mealy bug in greenhouses / conservatories. Each ladybird larvae will eat thousands of pests each before turning into an adult ladybird and dispersing. At this point, the relavent bio-control can be introduced to give on-going pest control if needed :-

  • Introduce Aphidius to give on-going aphid control.
  • Introduce Phytoseiulus / Amblyseius Andersonii to give on-going red spider mite control.
  • Introduce Cryptolaemus to give on-going mealybug control.

Ladybird Larvae Green Gardener only supplies British Adalia bipunctata ladybirds - we do NOT supply Harlequin ladybirds. As our Ladybird larvae are supplied as larvae, they are ideal for releasing directly onto plants heavily infected with pests - as they they are unable to fly and will stay where you put them. Supplied in trays of approximately 50, they are sent by 1st class post ready for release directly onto your infected plants. Available from April to August each year in packs of 50 ready for release in the garden. Finished for this year - available again in 2020.

N.B. If you have recently used a chemical spray i.e. within the last 2-3 weeks, please contact us (jess@greengardener.co.uk) to check how soon Ladybird Larvae can be introduced? Once the infestation is under control, the relevant natural predator can be introduced to give on-going control i.e. introduce Aphidius for on-going aphid control.

"I want to leave feedback for the ladybirds I received today for our granddaughter's greenhouse. (But I cannot find a link to) We are over the moon with them they were very healthy and are eating the pests quickly. We have put a couple of ladybird houses in there so that when it gets warm enough we can move some onto our outside plants. Thank you so much I will definitely be repeating this exercise next year." Jill and Indi (Aberdeen) by email

Ladybird Larvae
I tried the ladybird larvae because my indoor chilli plants keep getting infested with aphids. I had a few questions before buying so called and was advised to use the larvae rather than the adults. (very informative lady on the phone was extremely helpful) The larvae have eaten most of the aphids now and are turning to adult stage so very happy with them so far and hoping they will stick around, in fact I even got the ladybird barn to keep them safe throughout the winter). Excellent and I highly recommend. ????

Ladybird Larvae
Ladybirds arrived promptly and all alive. Managed the aphid population very quickly. Ladybird barn proving a big hit as well. Have since spotted larvae amongst the vegetation. Big success in dealing with Aphid population without pesticides or chemicals. Will certainly be visiting site again regularly.

Ladybird Larvae
Great service at a good price

I have used Green Gardener products for a number of years. They supply a number of natural pest control options and I have tried several of them.

I have used nemaslug successfully for several years, also vine weevil control for adults and grubs. I have also tried encarsia in the greenhouse, adult ladybirds, larvae and lacewing larvae to control greenfly. All products that have worked well and benefitted the garden.

They provide a good and reliable service, particularly the two part delivery which ensures that you treat at the right time

Ladybird Larvae
I bought the ladybird larvae for use on nasturtiums and great water dock plant by my pond which were covered in aphids. I haven’t seen any ladybirds in years so wanted to help them make a comeback in my garden. I received a large amount of larvae and they have grown well even the larvae eat aphids I look forward to them growing into ladybirds

Ladybirds and larvae arrived quickly and were soon munching away on the black flies that had started to appear all over my beans.
