Should I use Autumn Lawn Fertiliser and what’s in it?
Q. “Hi Jon – long time customer, so I hope you dont mind a couple of questions? I have done my leatherjacket nematode treatment and just want to check if its OK to use the lawn fertiliser now? Can I just check I am using the Autumn Fertiliser now and whats in it? The lawn is looking great, so dont want to get it wrong. Thanks for all your help.” Dave
A. Hi Dave and happy to help. Lawn Fertiliser wont affect the nematodes, so you can go ahead and apply your fertilser. It is the Autumn Lawn Fertiliser you want to be applying NOW (between Sept and Feb) as you want a fertiliser lower in nitrogen, but high in potassium to promote root growth rather than top growth during the winter. The high potassium content (5:3:13) promotes good root growth and improves disease resistance PLUS it also contains slow release Nitrogen for a spring boost. One application lasts 6 months, so only 1 application is needed between Sept – Feb at a rate of 35g per sqm.
The Autumn Lawn Fertiliser contains the following :- Organic based granular fertiliser containing Urea, blood meal, bone meal, and feather meal product enhanced with Nutralene, Humic Acid, Kelp, Giberellic Acid, and miro-nutrient package. Nitrogen 5%, Phosphorous Pentoxide 3% and Potassium Oxide 13%.

I hope this helps Kind regards Jon @ Green Gardener
