Coir Grow Bags are made from compressed coir, so simply cut a hole in the top and then fill the bag with water and watch the coir swell to make the ideal growing medium (100 cm x 15 cm x 12 cm in size). Once the coir has fully expanded, stab some holes in the bottom of the bag to allow excess water to drain and to provide drainage on-going. Plants take up nutrients dissolved in water through their roots. The best way to provide these nutrients is as a liquid feed, as they are already dissolved in water and the plant can take up the feed quickly with little waste. Worms are good for the garden, so attracting them is beneficial PLUS did you know :-

• Worms can eat their weight each day.
• An earthworm normally measures between 9 & 30cm!!!!.
• When worms tunnel deeply they bring subsoil up  mixing it with the topsoil improving drainage and fertility.
• Earthworm slime contains Nitrogen which plants love. The sticky slime helps to hold clusters of soil particles together in formations called aggregates.
• Earthworms can lose segments but if cut in half you do not get 2 worms!!!

• For growing on plants grown in Coir Pellets – Sow your seeds into a coir pellet and then once big enough, simply drop the coir pellet into the hole in the top of the Cube that is the exact size of a coir pellet.  The plant can continue to grow with the roots able to grow through the biodegradable wrap and then once large enough the Grow Cubes can then be planted out into the garden, Coir Growbags / Coir Planter Bags without disturbing the roots.
• For larger seeds such as tomatoes simply drop 1 or 2 seeds into the top of the cube and cover with compost. Try sowing large seed such as sunflower, broad beans, runner beans etc direct into to the Cube.
• For cuttings of tender perennials such as fuchsias, geraniums, verbena etc. (many of the plants used in baskets and tubs through the summer will provide cuttings), push the cuttings into the coir pellets and place in a propagator or simply cover with a plastic bag and keep on a warm windowsill. They should root in 2-3 weeks.
