This NEW Inground Wormery is the easy way to deal with small amounts of kitchen waste. This 12 litre wormery is buried in your veg garden / flower bed / greenhouse and uses the power of worms and microorganisms to breakdown your waste turning it into wormcasts, while releasing the nutrients into the soil. As worms consume your kitchen scraps and garden waste, their digestion breaks down organic material into a dark, nutrient-rich humus called wormcasts that are rich in essential nutrients. These worm castings not only improve soil health but also increase water retention, reduce the need for chemical fertilisers, and promote healthier, more resilient plants. Simply chop up your kitchen, fruit and veg scraps and add it to your wormery and let the worms and microorganisms do the rest. Dimensions: 27 cm x 27 cm x 47 cm (Cylindrical).

This NEW Inground Wormery is installed directly into the soil and is designed for all-year-round use i.e. being buried in the soil protects to from the worst of the weather. This discreet and efficient system allows worms and microorganisms to thrive, but is odour-Free and is low maintenance i.e. once set up, the worms do not require any maintenance. This system is ideal for those with limited garden space, as the composter is buried underground, leaving the surface area clear for planting.

How does it work? When you are ready to start, bury your wormery in the ground. Simply add the soaked coir bedding and add the worms. Now you can start feeding your worms – add a small amount of kitchen waste to the wormery and leave the worms to settle in. Feed your worms small amounts of kitchen waste on a regular basis increasing the amount as the worms breed. There is no need to empty the wormery as the worms will “distribute” the composted contents into the surrounding soil. Ideal Gift – The Inground Wormery comes in a single box containing the wormery, Coir Bedding Blocks, 250g of composting worms and full instructions.

When you are ready to start redeem the voucher for the worms following the instructions on the voucher. The worms will arrive within a couple of days.

Assemble the sump by attaching the feet.

Place the 1st tray on top of the sump and add the coir bedding and some of the paper packaging the wormery was delivered in torn into little pieces and add the worms.

Cover the worms with a layer of chopped kitchen waste.

Keep adding kitchen waste regularly to the tray – in the beginning it is best to add small amounts of waste regularly to allow the worms to settle in.

Once the 1st tray is full, start filling the next tray.

The worms start “eating” the kitchen waste in the bottom tray and once finished, they move up to the next tray through the perforations in each layer. Simply keep adding waste & filling the trays.

By the time you have filled the top tray, the bottom tray will have fully worked compost, which can be emptied out. This empty tray is then placed on the top ready for fresh waste.

The liquid fertilizer is drained regularly from the sump by tipping it forward and needs to be diluted (10:1) before use.

Bokashi Bins (and Urban Composters) use Bokashi Bran to compost your kitchen scraps. Manufactured in the UK, it is available in 1kg and 3kg – (these are the weights when packed, but the weight may vary slightly as the moisture content changes). The Bokashi Bran is sprinkled over the kitchen waste in your Bokashi Bin / Urban Composter and contains the bacteria, fungi and yeasts necessary to start the composting process.
Bokashi Bins are the quick and easy way to deal with your kitchen scraps and leftovers. It turns your unwanted peels, off-cuts and leftovers into liquid feed and a nutrient-rich fertilizer for your garden. A bokashi Bins doesn’t just hold your kitchen scraps en-route to the compost heap, but actually starts the composting process right in your kitchen without any bad smells. A Bokashi Bin is attractive enough to have on show in your kitchen or utility room, which will encourage and remind you to keep composting. Supplied as a TWIN Pack, you will receive 2 x 15.3L Bokashi Bins, 1KG of Bokashi Bran, full instructions, a levelling trowel, bran scoop and a liquid collecting cup, all delivered by courier in a colourful box.

How does it work? Each bin has a large 16 litre capacity, a tight fitting lid (so there is no smell, spills or flies) and 1KG of Bokashi Bran is included. On a daily basis (or when you have scraps), just lift the lid, add your scraps (even meat or fish) and a handful of Bokashi Bran and the fermenting process begins. After a few days, the scraps start fermenting and liquids are released. This liquid is saturated in good bacteria and nutrients and should be drained off every few days, as an excellent 100% organic fertilizer for plants or it can be flushed down drains to clear pipes and stop nasty odours PLUS it promotes a healthy septic system. When the 1st bucket is full, start adding scraps to the 2nd bin. Add 2 handfuls of bran to the top of the full bin and then close the lid and leave it for 14 days while you fill the 2nd bin. Keep draining the liquid every 2 to 3 days. After 2-3 weeks the waste will be composted and it can be dug into the garden as a brilliant soil improver or composted further in a compost heap or wormery. rinse the bin out and then use the bin again when the 2nd bin (now in use) is full. Keep rotating the bins in this fashion so one is being used while the other is composting.

Adding Food Scraps – All types of food scraps can be composted including meat, fish, veg, fruit, dairy, coffee, wilted flowers. Cut the scraps into small pieces and place into the Bokashi Bin on a regular basis. Add Bokashi Bran – the bran contains effective microbes that start to break down the kitchen scraps and should be added each time you add scraps. The composting process is anaerobic which means that the food scraps don’t rot or smell while breaking down.

Draining the liquid – Using the tap ion the front, any liquid should be drained off every few days. Dilute it 1:100 with water and use it as an excellent 100% organic fertiliser or flush it down drains to keep the pipes or septic tank healthy. Dig the compost into the garden – Once the bucket is full and all the liquid drained, the contents can be composted further by digging it into the garden or adding it to a compost heap or wormery.
