The Box Tree Moth Trap uses a powerful pheromone to attract and trap Box Tree Moths. The trap is designed to be re-usable, so a replacement sachet of lure can be purchased each year and the trap re-used. We supply the unique GINKO BUXUS SEASON LONG pheromone lure – the Ginko Buxus lure we include will attract moths for around 240 days unlike our competitors’ lures, which only last for approx 6 weeks, so it works out much better value for money in the long run PLUS you do not have to remember to change lures every 6 weeks! The lure is added to the top of the trap and secured with the tie included and can be used in ANY trap, whether it was originally bought from us or not1 seasons worth of lure. N.B. The lures have a 3 year expiry date and should be kept in the fridge until needed. Full Description

Use this Box Tree Moth Trap to trap the box tree moths between April and September. Box Tree Moth overwinters as a caterpillar, hidden between box leaves that it has spun together with silk before emerging in the Spring to mate and lay eggs. There can be up to 3 generations of moths per year, so this means moths can be present from April until September. Use this funnel trap and lure to trap the moths and protect your Box plants for the ENTIRE season.

Use Box Tree Moth Trap to protect your box plants if you know there are moths in the area or position then to monitor moth activity in your area. Adult Box Tree Moths have up to a 4cm wingspan and they usually have white wings with a brown border around the wings, although the moths can sometimes be completely brown. This Box Tree Moth Trap uses a pheromone lure to attract the male moths and trap them – without the males, any eggs laid will be infertile leading to a reduction in the population. Use this trap between April and September – use 1 trap per 200 sqm and position them close to where the box plants are growing and hung at a height of 1.5 -2m above the ground. Each trap is supplied with a sachet of pheromone lure, which is added to the top of the trap and will attract moths for an ENTIRE season. 5cm of water is then added to the trap and then as the moths are attracted by the lure they are caught in the funnel trap and are unable to escape. The trap should be emptied weekly. The pheromone lure is specific to the box tree moth, so other species will not be attracted. N.B. The lures have a 3 year expiry date and should be kept in the fridge until needed.

This does exactly as advertised! Our hedges in front of the house became riddled with the caterpillars and moths on 2020. We bought the trap and lure , sprayed the hedge after trimming. The hedge revived much to our delight and we used a new lure last year.
Our hedge looked as good as before the first attack in 2020.
I will be buying a lure annually.
It saves us worry and the expense of replacing a very large amount of hedging!

Hope from despair! The box moth arrived 3 years ago and I thought I’d lose all my plants, a massive part of my garden. Green gardener has supplied the means to control it, and it doesn’t affect the other natural life. Thank you.

I am reluctant to use toxic chemicals in my garden and the choice of safe biological controls from Green Gardener is very good. For the second year, I bought box tree moth lures, which caught about 20 box tree moths last year. The order was delivered very quickly and well packaged.

Deployed lures at end of May. Caught around 50 moths in a matter of weeks.I am waiting for a second caterpillar attack but nothing so far by end July.
Deploying lures will now be an annual task.
Any thought of having to replace my box trees has now gone.

Green Gardener’s box moth lure is excellent value. I have used it for the last 3 yrs after our hedge was attacked by the dreaded Box Moth catterpillar. As you can see from the photos, it is in excellent health and the traps (I have 3) work effectively as part of a regime of monitoring and spraying if caterpillars are detected.

Does exactly what is promises. Was amazed just how many moths the trap lured. Such a great way of monitoring the moths. Used in conjunction with Topbuxus Health Mix for added protection against box blight and other diseases, and Topbuxus Grow which is a great fertilizer. I also purchased Topbuxus ZenTari spray elsewhere online (as it is not legally available to sell in the UK yet while it awaits approval), and this saved our Box from a huge infestation of caterpillars. I am now fully armed to fight these nuisance moths year round.

2023 is the second year I have deployed this season long pheromone. It has captured many moths so far.
It is now August 18 and so far there has been no sign of caterpillars.
I am not complacent so am always on the look out.
