Use these hanging Thrip Traps with a Lure to control adult thrips. Stick the lure (a rubber bung infused with a pheromone lure) in the middle of the glue trap and suspend it 30cm above the plants - each lure will protect an area of up to 100 sqm, but can easily be used in smaller areas. The pheromone lure will attract the male who becomes trapped and, without the males, any eggs laid will be infertile. It is important to use BLUE sticky traps as these are more attractive to the thrips and beneficial insects / bees will not be attracted. We supply a pack of 10 Blue Glue Traps and a Thrip Lure - simply move the lure to a new trap as they become full. Each lure will last for up to 6 weeks and will keep for up to 2 years in the fridge.

N.B. For complete control, these Traps and Lures can be used in conjunction with Thrip Nematodes / Amblyseius Cucumeris predators to target the larvae as well.

Suspend the traps and lures 30cm above the plants – each lure will protect an area of up to 100 sqm, but can easily be used in smaller areas. The pheromone lure will attract the male who becomes trapped and, without the males, any eggs laid will be infertile.
Thrips attack plants such as African violet and chrysanthemum – damaging growing points and causing mottling, distortion and blistering of leaves. On cucumbers the fruit becomes small and twisted. Thrips will lay up to 100 eggs on the young leaves or in flower buds of plants. Once the eggs hatch the nymphs as well as the adults feed by sucking sap. The life cycle varies and is affected by temperature, but thrips in glasshouses can breed throughout the year. Thrips can also survive out of doors all year round, but become more of a problem during hot summers attacking garden plants in sheltered situations, especially Viburnum tinus. For complete control, these Traps and Lures can be used in conjunction with Thrip Nematodes / Amblyseius Cucumeris predators to target the larvae as well.
