Full Description

Nemaslug® is the No.1 bird/wildlife friendly solution for slugs. Nemaslug® will not harm children, pets, birds and wildlife. Song birds i.e. thrushes, hedgehogs, frogs, toads and some insects i.e. ground beetles love to feed on slugs and their eggs. These predators have a significant impact on the slug population, but many of the chemicals used in slug pellets can be toxic to these predators, so if you use them, you run the risk of harming them. There are also increasing concerns about the effects of these chemicals on pets. Unlike Nemaslug®, many slug pellets do NOT work well during wet weather – exactly when you need protection against slugs. Nemaslug® also kills slugs BOTH above and below ground.

Nemaslug® contains millions of microscopic beneficial nematodes (Phasmarhabditis Californica) that occur naturally in your soil. They are invisible to the naked eye and come as a powder, which is mixed with water and applied to the soil where they search out and invade the slugs. As the nematodes invade the slug, it will stop feeding, so your plants are safe and will burrow underground to die. As it decomposes in the soil, the nematodes are released back into the soil to search out more slugs and the whole process starts again. Nemaslug® works at temperatures above 5c/40f, so apply UNDERGLASS all year round OR apply OUTDOORS during the growing season i.e. between March and November. Each application of Nemaslug® will control slugs for six weeks, so for a slug free garden, apply Nemaslug® every 6 weeks. Nemaslug is a perishable product (it will keep for 2 weeks in the fridge), so order when you are ready to apply or select your dispatch date below. Each application of Nemaslug controls slugs for 6 weeks, so for a slug free garden, re-apply each 6 weeks – see our Planned Programmes of packs sent a 6 weekly intervals.

How is it sent? Nemaslug® is a perishable, living product, so it is sent out fresh by Royal Mail 1st TRACKED post, but they are fine on the doormat while you are at work. Being a perishable, living product, it must be used before the expiry date (which is marked on the inside of the pack and will be at least 2 weeks) and it must be stored in the fridge until it is needed. Once opened, the contents do not keep, so it must be used in one day – do NOT store the made up solution or powder.

How to apply? Nemaslug® is easy to use. An improved easymix formulae means Nemaslug 2.0 is easier to mix and dissolve meaning application is simple. Mix the harmless powder with water & apply to the soil around the plant using a watering can fitted with a Coarse Rose or the NemaCan Watering Can or use an EasyNem Applicator or Hose-end Feeder  for larger areas.

N.B. Need a Coarse Rose, NemaCan Watering Can, EasyNem Applicator or Hose-end Feeder  – Add one to your basket and save £1.00 off a Coarse Rose OR save £2.00 off a EasyNem ApplicatorHose-end Feeder or NemaCan when bought with your nematodes (savings applied at the checkout).

The Nemaslug I ordered was dispatched & received very promptly with a generous lead time for ‘use by’, important in our area of the south east where rainfall can be scant just when you need it. Within a few days of the product being used I have noticed signs that slugs activity is slowing down. Good service and a good product

We had a plague of very large slugs, mainly concentrated underneath our many bird feeders. One wet evening I counted forty plus slugs, some three inches long. The slug nematodes were used as recommended and within a week we could find only isolated individuals around the garden.”

It’s really good saves my hostas from being decimated

NEMASLUG HAS BEEN A SAVIOUR FOR MY VEGETABLES AND BUMBLE BEES POLLINATE MY GARDEN EVERY YEAR. WE SHOULD ALL LOOK TO METHODS OF CONTROL THAT DO NOT HARM BIRDS AND INCREASE THE BEE POPULATION!!”

  5. Tim

    Does the job!

  6. Lesley Halley

I use Nemaslug every spring before the slugs get very big and start breeding, it’s usually fairly sure to rain frequently so I don’t have to water the garden so much! I mop up any stragglers with beer traps and my frogs and the neighbourhood hedgehog get the rest. No way I’d use poison as I don’t want the local wildlife to ingest a poisoned slug or snail. An excellent product which I have recommended to many friends

  7. Maria

I’ve used this for slug control but does it work on snails too as I have more of them !?

    • Jon (verified owner)

Thanks for the question and snails are much harder to kill than slugs but the nematodes will work especially on the young snails, so keep applying them and as the older snails die / are predated on, if there are less young snails, then your numbers will decrease.

We have used the slug killer before and are impressed with how effective it is

I used the nematodes last year and am sure they made a difference. I was plagued by slugs of all sizes but there are definitely less at the moment.

Excellent service as usual, arrived promptly. Usually keeps our little slug friends on the run. Will definitely order more for later in the year.

  11. Andrew Farmer (verified owner)

Nemaslug arrived very quickly. Always had success with them before but didn’t use them last year which is partly why we lost so many plants. Here’s to a better year this year.

  12. June Clarke (verified owner)

I nematodes every few weeks during summer and have been doing for a few years. No more slugs and snails and nice uneaten plants. Always fast delivery.

  13. Valerie Bird (verified owner)

Very pleased with not only the timely delivery but also the results. My nicotiana have recovered as well as a suffering dahlia. I’ve done two doses with the required distance apart. I’ll certainly be using them next year and earlier.”

  14. Caroline Cheung (verified owner)

Bought slug nematodes, ordered on Monday and package arrived by Wednesday. Efficient service and product did exactly what it said it would. No more slugs eating my plants

  15. Angela Hadley (verified owner)

I ordered nematodes for a slug problem in the garden. Last year I used them every six weeks and there were noticeably fewer slugs. I didn’t get round to it at the beginning of this year and I’ve been plagued with them even with such dry weather. I’ve just done a late application in the hope there will be fewer overwintering slugs. I learned my lesson.

  16. chris pritchard

    excellent product

  17. Jon (verified owner)

Thanks for the message and there as some species of nematodes that in lab conditions may affect bees (there are hundreds of species of nematodes) but the ones used in Nemaslug have not been shown to have any effect and are safe for bees. Kind regards Jon @ Green Gardener

Thank you for your good service, items were all sent promptly and what I ordered. I like all the natural products and will order more next year. I belong to my local Horticultural Society and have recommended you to our members.

Have been using NemaSlug to great effect.

  21. pauline shanley (verified owner)

I use Nemaslug and it is an extremely effective product. We use it regularly through spring and summer and we have no problem with slugs and snails. The bonus I’d that it is a natural product.

I buy nemaslug every year and various other bits and pieces. Always outstanding and personal service from them. Definitely a five star company.

  23. Jill Burrage (verified owner)

Used these last year to save my collection of beautiful hostas that are the slugs equivalent of McDonalds. It was the best solution ever but I neglected to retreat after six weeks and it was very noticeable. This year I shall sign up for the redelivery scheme for a slug free season.
