Description

Details

Lacewing larvae are natural predators of aphids and other soft bodied pests and are able to eat over 300 pests each, so they are ideal for clearing heavy infestations under-glass. Use them to clear heavy infestations of pests in greenhouses and conservatories i.e. aphids, whitefly and mealybug. Lacewing larvae occur naturally in the garden, but with a huge appetite for aphids they can be used to clear heavy infestation of pest under-glass. Each lacewing larvae will eat about 300 aphids each before turning into an adult lacewing and dispersing. At this point, Aphidius can be introduced to give on-going aphid control. Currently unavailable.

Lacewing Larvae are supplied in a cardboard tube containing the larvae and buckwheat husks - simply open the tube and sprinkle the larvae (and the buckwheat husks) over the affected plants. The larvae soon settle down to feed on aphids and other soft bodied insects such as whitefly and thrip. Lacewing larvae are safe to use on food crops, are safe for children, pets and wildlife and are easy to apply. N.B. Lacewing Larvae are available between May and August.

N.B. If you have recently used a chemical spray i.e. within the last 2-3 weeks, please contact us (jess@greengardener.co.uk) to check how soon Lacewing Larvae can be introduced? Once the infestation is under control, the relevant natural predator can be introduced to give on-going control i.e. introduce Aphidius for on-going aphid control.

Lacewing Larvae
Great service at a good price

I have used Green Gardener products for a number of years. They supply a number of natural pest control options and I have tried several of them.

I have used nemaslug successfully for several years, also vine weevil control for adults and grubs. I have also tried encarsia in the greenhouse, adult ladybirds, larvae and lacewing larvae to control greenfly. All products that have worked well and benefitted the garden.

They provide a good and reliable service, particularly the two part delivery which ensures that you treat at the right time
