Wormcity Wormery - This stacking wormery has BIGGER trays than many others(wider and deeper), so the worms are happier, and compost faster. Each tray holds 25 litres of waste and measures 43cms wide x 43cms long and 17cm deep. The Wormcity is very simple to assemble. It can be kept inside or out - mine is outside for the summer and in the greenhouse during the winter. Each Wormcity Wormery consists of a sturdy base, a sump tray, which collects the liquid feed and a tap. The sump holds approx 9 litres of liquid and has "steps" (pictured right), so any worms which fall into the sump can easily climb back into the wormery. The perforated composting trays and lid are then stacked on top. Start by adding the worms and the kitchen waste to the bottom tray. Once this is full, start filling the next tray and then the next and so on. The worms start "eating" the kitchen waste in the bottom tray and once finished, they move up to the next tray. Simply keep adding waste & filling the trays. The trays slide down inside each other, i.e. as the worms eat the waste, the trays sink down and stay in contact with each other, so the worms can easily move between the trays. By the time you have filled the top tray, the bottom tray will have fully worked compost, which can be emptied out. This empty tray is then placed on the top ready for fresh waste. The liquid fertilizer is drained regularly and needs to be diluted (10:1) before use. The 3 tray Wormcity measures 43cm x 43cm x 75cm high once assembled.
The Wormcity Wormery is available in dark green or black and comes complete with 3, 4 or 5 composting trays.1 x Sump (for collecting the liquid feed), 1 x Sump Tray (has steps for lost worms), 1 x Base Unit, an easy turn tap with back nut, 1 x Lid, 2 x fixing screws and Wingnuts (for attaching the wormery to the base), a Coir Block (makes 9 Litres of bedding), a VOUCHER for 250g of composting worms, 250g of worm food and instructions.

"I thought you might be interested to know about some sun flowers I grew for my grand children. They were grown with compost from the wormery & fed throughout the summer with fertilizer from the base of the wormery. The fertilizer also fed my tomatoes, courgettes and flowers. The grandchildren were amazed by the size of the sunflowers and vegetables. The wormery was a great buy & my partner's son also received one as a present. " Alan Cross
"An excellent worm composting device with good instructions. Easy to set up and get going, two months after its purchase, it now houses hundreds of busy, happy worms which are enjoying eating through the kitchen waste, multiplying happily and producing the rich compost very effectively. I have added a fourth tray and already extracted the super rich compost from the bottom tray, which I am using in my garden and greenhouse. Certainly, for any keen gardener this is an excellent purchase." From Jillian - supplied by the manufacturer
What can you put in a wormery? - Vegetable scraps, fruit and peelings, tea bags and coffee grounds, Hoover contents and hair (including animal) shredded newspaper, egg box type cardboard, crushed egg shells, stale bread, pizza, rice & pasta, . The greater the variety of organic waste the better the resulting worm castings will be.
What should you not put in a wormery? - You should avoid animal manure (the animal may have been 'wormed' and the residue can kill your worms), highly acidic fruit such as citrus fruits and onions (which will turn the wormery acidic), meat and bones, products covered in fat, vinegar, garlic and spicy foods, eggs (egg shells are excellent) and dairy products. Grass / lawn cuttings, weeds and garden waste should be composted on the compost heap NOT in a wormery.
