Nematode Application methods - Apply nematodes for controlling slugs, vine weevil, chafer grubs and leatherjackets with either :-

 

  • Apply standard and large packs of nematodes with a watering can (fitted with a coarse rose) or hose-end feeder - particularly useful for larger areas. N.B. Standard packs of Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer MUST be applied with a watering can.
  • Apply economy packs to lawns with a hose-end feeder or sprayer.

Nematode application methods - Nematodes are supplied as powders which are mixed with water and applied directly to the soil with a watering can, hose-end feeder or sprayer.

  • Apply standard packs with a watering can fitted with a coarse rose - (we recommend the Haws no.14 rose) or with a hose-end feeder. N.B. Standard packs of Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer MUST be applied with a watering can.
  • Apply large packs with a watering can fitted with a coarse rose (we recommend the Haws no.14 rose) or with a hose-end feeder.
  • Apply Economy packs of Leatherjacket and Chafer Killer with a hose-end feeder or a sprayer (minimum of 5 litres).

Haws Rose no.14 Rose - Watering cans need to be fitted with a coarse rose. We recommend using the Haws Rose no.14, as not all roses are suitable.


Hose-end feeder
- Used for applying large packs of nematodes. This feeder can also be used for applying liquid feed to plants and lawns. Attaches via standard hose-pipe connector and features both a rose head and jet spray as well as an on / off switch for water flow.



 
Nemaslug® application instructions - Apply BOTH 40sqm & 100sqm packs of Nemaslug® using a watering can or a hose-end feeder.

 

Nemaslug application instructions using a watering can :-

  1. Refrigerate upon receipt and use before the expiry date marked on the pack. Use entire pack at one time and do not store made up solutions.
  2. Avoid application in bright sunlight, apply during evenings or dull conditions.
  3. Ground must be moist before and for at least two weeks after application.
  4. Mark out the area to be treated i.e. 40 sqm for the standard pack and 100 sqm for the large pack
  5. For the standard pack - take one quarter of the pack contents and add to an 8 litre (2 gallon) watering can fitted with a coarse rose. For the large pack - take one eight of the pack contents and add to an 8 litre (2 gallon) watering can fitted with a coarse rose.
  6. Fill the can with clean water and mix thoroughly.
  7. Apply the solution immediately to 10 sqm if using the standard pack or 12.5 sqm for the large pack.
  8. Then water again thoroughly with the same amount of water to wash the nematodes in to the soil.
  9. Repeat steps 5 to 8 taking a fresh portion of nematodes each time and applying as per step 7.
  10. It is impossible to over-dose, so if your garden is smaller then apply the whole pack to the smaller area.

Nemaslug application instructions using a Hose-end Feeder :-

  1. Mark out the area to be treated - 40sqm or 100sqm.
  2. Wash the feeder through with water to ensure it is clean.
  3. Add entire contents of the pack to the bowl of the feeder. Then fill the bowl with water before attaching the hose.
  4. Taking care to keep the feeder in an upright position apply evenly to the whole of the area for 8 minutes using a side-to-side motion to keep the nematodes well mixed. During this time most of the nematodes will have been applied.
  5. Treat the same area again for a further 8 minutes to apply the remaining nematodes as well as to make sure they are adequately watered in.
  6. Adhering strictly to the application timings will ensure that any remaining colour in the bowl will be due to inert carrier only and that you have performed an even application.


Nemasys® Vine Weevil Killer application instructions - Apply standard packs of Nemasys® Vine Weevil Killer using a watering can. Large packs can be applied using a watering can or a Hose-end Feeder.

 

Nemasys® Vine Weevil Killer application instructions using a watering can :-

  1. Refrigerate upon receipt and use before the expiry date marked on the pack. Use entire pack at one time and do not store made up solutions.
  2. Avoid application in bright sunlight, apply during evenings or dull conditions.
  3. Ground must be moist before and for at least two weeks after application.
  4. Mark out the area to be treated i.e. 12 sqm for the standard pack and 100 sqm for the large pack
  5. For the standard pack - take half of the pack and add to an 8 litre (2 gallon) watering can fitted with a coarse rose. For the large pack - dissolve the whole pack in 8 litres of water and stir to create a stock solution. Take 500ml of the stock solution and add to a 8 litre (2 gallon) watering can fitted with a coarse rose. .
  6. Fill the can with clean water and mix thoroughly.
  7. Apply the solution immediately to 6 sqm if using the standard pack or 6.25 sqm for the large pack.
  8. Then water again thoroughly with the same amount of water to wash the nematodes in to the soil.
  9. Repeat steps 5 to 8 taking a fresh portion of nematodes / stock solution each time and applying as per step 7.
  10. It is impossible to over-dose, so if your garden is smaller then apply the whole pack to the smaller area.

Nemasys® Vine Weevil Killer application instructions using a Hose-end Feeder :-

  1. Mark out area to be treated.
  2. Wash the feeder through with water to ensure it is clean.
  3. Add entire contents of the pack to the bowl of the feeder. Then fill the bowl with water before attaching the hose.
  4. Taking care to keep the feeder in an upright position apply evenly to the whole of the area for 8 minutes using a side-to-side motion to keep the nematodes well mixed. During this time most of the nematodes will have been applied.
  5. Treat the same area again for a further 8 minutes to apply the remaining nematodes and make sure they are well watered in.
  6. Adhering strictly to the application timings will ensure that any remaining colour in the bowl will be due to inert carrier only and that you have performed an even application.

 Nemasys® chafer grub and leatherjacket killer 100sqm packs Apply 100 sqm packs of BOTH Nemasys® chafer grub and leatherjacket killer with a watering can or a hose-end feeder.

Nemasys® chafer grub and Nemasys Leatherjacket killer 100 sqm pack application instructions using a watering can :-

  1. Refrigerate upon receipt and use before the expiry date marked on the pack. Use entire pack at one time and do not store made up solutions.
  2. Avoid application in bright sunlight, apply during evenings or dull conditions.
  3. Ground must be moist before and for at least two weeks after application.
  4. Mark out the area to be treated i.e. into 20 sqm sections.
  5. Take one fifth of the pack contents and add to an 8 litre (2 gallon) watering can fitted with a very coarse rose.
  6. Fill the can with clean water and mix thoroughly.
  7. Apply the solution immediately to 20sqm of the soil area to be treated.
  8. Then water again thoroughly with twice the amount of water (16 litres) to make sure that the nematodes are washed through the grass thatch and in to the soil.
  9. Repeat steps 5 to 8 taking a fifth of the nematodes each time and applying to 20 sqm until the nematodes are finished.
  10. It is impossible to over-dose, so if your lawn is smaller than 100 sqm then apply the qwhole pack to the smaller area.

Nemasys® chafer grub and Nemasys Leatherjacket killer 100 sqm pack application instructions using a Hose-end Feeder :-

  1. Mark out area to be treated.
  2. Wash the feeder through with water to ensure it is clean.
    Add entire contents of the pack to feeder bowl. Then fill the bowl with water before attaching the hose.
  3. Taking care to keep the feeder in an upright position apply evenly to the whole of the area for 8 minutes using a side-to-side motion to keep the nematodes well mixed. During this time most of the nematodes will have been applied.
  4. Treat the same area again for a further 16 minutes to apply the remaining nematodes as well as to make sure they are adequately watered in.
  5. Adhering strictly to the application timings will ensure that any remaining colour in the bowl will be due to inert carrier only and that you have performed an even application.

Make sure the lawn does not dry out after applying nematodes and keep it well watered for at least two weeks. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

Nemasys® chafer grub and Nemasys Leatherjacket killer 500sqm packs - Apply 500 sqm packs of BOTH Nemasys® chafer grub and leatherjacket killer with a hose-end feeder or sprayer.

 

Nemasys® chafer grub and Nemasys Leatherjacket killer 500 sqm pack application instructions using a Hose-end Feeder :-

  1. Divide the 500 sqm to be treated into 100 sqm areas.
  2. Wash the feeder through with water to ensure it is clean.
  3. Divide the pack into 5 equal portions.
  4. Add 1 portion i.e. a fifth of the pack to feeder bowl. Then fill the bowl with water before attaching the hose.
  5. Taking care to keep the feeder in an upright position apply evenly to 100 sqm for 8 minutes using a side-to-side motion to keep the nematodes well mixed. During this time most of the nematodes will have been applied.
  6. Treat the same 100 sqm area again for a further 8 minutes to apply the remaining nematodes as well as to make sure they are adequately watered in.
  7. Repeat the procedure with the other 4 portions treating each 100 sqm area.
  8. Adhering strictly to the application timings will ensure that any remaining colour in the bowl will be due to inert carrier only and that you have performed an even application.

 Nemasys® chafer grub and Nemasys Leatherjacket killer 500 sqm pack application instructions using a sprayer :-

  1. Mark out area to be treated and irrigate well so that the area to be treated is moist
  2. Wash the sprayer through with water to ensure it is clean.
  3. Add entire contents of the pack to a bucket and add 10 litres of water. Stir the solution well.
  4. Take 2 litres of the concentrated solution and add to the sprayer and add another 10 litres of water. Stir well again.
  5. Apply the contents to 100 sqm. Once the sprayer is empty, repeat the process another 4 times until you have treated 500 sqm in total.
  6. Irrigate the treated area directly after application with upto 3mm of water.

Make sure the lawn does not dry out after applying nematodes and keep it well watered for at least two weeks. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!
