Pest Alert - Customers are reporting large numbers of vine weevil about, so if you have spotted adult vine weevils or grubs in your garden or have had a vine weevil problem in the past, treat with Nemasys® NOW to kill any grubs present and to protect your plants for the winter.
Adult vine weevils feed on plant foliage during summer and autumn, taking "U" shaped notches from the edge of the leaf. Adults are about 1cm long, brownish black with drab yellow spots on their backs. They are nocturnal and unable to fly, but being quick moving if disturbed are difficult to spot. They are fond of rhododendrons, camellias and azaleas as well as herbaceous plants. They only munch the edge of the leaf, which is unsightly, but it won't seriously harm the plant, unless there are lots of adults, but it's a good indication of vine weevil activity, so check for the more destructive grubs.
Vine weevil grubs are the real problem, attacking the roots of plants from late summer until the following spring. The grubs over-winter in the roots and emerge as adults in late spring / summer. These adults lay eggs in the rootballs of plants. The eggs hatch and feed before over-wintering and then the whole process starts again.Vine weevil grubs grow to about 1cm and are creamy coloured and crescent shaped with an orange head. Affected plants will wilt even though the soil/compost is moist and as more of the roots are destroyed the plant will eventually topple over. Control vine weevil naturally by applying Nemasys® Vine Weevil Killer. Unlike chemical controls, Nemasys® Vine Weevil Killer kills the vine weevil grubs BEFORE they attack the plants and is so safe you can use on pot plants both in the greenhouse and conservatory, container plants outside, anywhere in the garden and it's SAFE for food crops such as strawberries and herbs!
Nemasys® contains the natural nematode, Steinernema Kraussei, which is effective at controlling vine weevil grubs. It comes as a powder, which is easy to use - just mix with water and apply like a liquid feed to the soil around the roots. Once applied, the nematodes seek out the vine weevil grubs and invade them. They multiply inside the grub turning it brown and papery before it disintegrates. The nematodes are then released back into the soil to get rid of more grubs. Easy!

"Hi Jon, I just wanted to thank you for saving my garden! Vine weevils nearly wiped out my garden two years ago. The restocking was not only expensive but there are many plants I still haven't been able to replace. After the restock I found vine weevil grubs in the soil again. Fortunately I found your website and started using the Nemasys. I'm pleased to say not a single plant has died since! I cant thank you enough, I'm really attached to all my plants and still feel sad when I think of some of my favourites that died! You have made me a very happy gardener! Thanks again." Caroline
"I used to have so much damage from vine weevils to my ornamental plants. Since I found Green Gardener and used Nemasys I have no problems - I tell all my friends." Mrs G.
