Droughtbuster Syphon

Down in price this year! - Droughtbuster - Use this syphon to pump water from a water butt, bath or sink into a watering can or connect your hosepipe via the standard 13mm connector. Best of all, you can use your hosepipe to move recycled or rain water, even during a hosepipe ban!

Droughtbuster - Use this syphon to water your garden legally during hosepipe bans. Put one end in your bath, the other end out the window, connect to a hose, squeeze the pump and let gravity syphon your waste water onto your garden. It can also be used to move water from water butts, sink and showers cleanly and easily. It stores neatly and can be used any time.

  • Easy to use - a few squeezes of the hand pump gets it going, then it runs by itself.
  • Efficient - empties baths in minutes and can be left unattended.
  • Flexible - Use to fill a water butt, wash the car or use straight onto the garden.
  • Convenient - attaches to any standard garden hose.

Using "grey" water - What greywater can I re-use? Grey water is the water from sinks, baths, the washing machine etc which can be used to water the garden. Water from the bath or shower is generally the easiest to re-use, as shampoos & soaps are relatively mild and well diluted and can be used straight on the garden. If you want to re-use greywater from a washing machine on the garden, then use detergents that is low in sodium and phosphorous, as these can damage plants, degrade soil and cause algal blooms. Ex-kitchen water can be very dirty, and contain lots of undesirable things, like grease, oil and chemicals and as it is generally produced in small quantities its best not to reuse it. Tips for using grey water :-

  • Wait for the grey water to cool before watering your garden.
  • Do not use grey water on vegetables, seedlings, rooting cuttings and acid-loving plants e.g. camellias or rhododendrons
  • Use natural soaps, shampoos, detergents and bleach as these are biodegradable and have no damaging additives.
