Controlling moles - Moles are one of the most destructive of garden pests and can cause havoc in lawns and flower beds. Often it is the best kept gardens that suffer the most, as the moles feed on worms which good gardeners encourage. Mole hills and surface tunnelling are the most obvious signs of mole damage, but their tunnels can also undermine plant roots, concrete slabs, etc plus other small animals such as voles will use these tunnels and will eat away at plant roots and tubers. Moles are attracted to lawns as they are the perfect hunting ground for their favourite food - worms! Position solar molers and use mole repellents as soon as you see the tell tale signs to stop them ruining your lawn. 

Mole Repellent Granules - At last there is a way of repelling moles from lawns BEFORE they dig it up! These biodegradable granules contain castor oil and are scattered over the lawn by hand or with a garden spreader. As the granules break down, the castor oil is released into the soil where it taints the moles food i.e. worms, so that the moles move on to find a new food source. These mole repellent granules will not harm lawns or plants and children and pets do not need to be excluded from treated areas. Once application is complete, lightly water the area to help disperse the castor oil into the soil. Repeat the treatment as necessary or if a mole hill appears. Mole Repellent Granules - 1.5kg treats 150sqm and 4.5kg treats 450 sqm. Packs can be stored indefinitely.

Solar Moler - Mole chasers are normally battery operated, so as the battery runs down you're never quite sure if they are working! This one is solar powered (the ultimate environmentally friendly power source, so no more batteries!), so now you can have a Solar Moler working away day after day, without having the worry or expense of changing batteries. Powered by a small solar panel, it emits a discreet noise underground that the mole can hear. Being inquisitive the mole is initially attracted to the noise, but after a few days it will become increasingly irritated and move away. Simply pushes into the ground so can be easily moved around the garden driving the moles away. One Solar Moler treats over 600sqm/750sqyds.

Natural Mole Smoke - Poison mole smokes have not been available for many years, but now we have an organic mole smoke available which repels moles WITHOUT harming them! Once lit inside the moles' tunnels, the smoke coats the inside with castor oil forming a physical barrier and taints the moles’ food source i.e. worms encouraging the moles to go elswhere. Simply, locate the moles' tunnel under a mole hill. Remove the lid from the mole smoke and light the fuse. Push the lit smoke down into the tunnel with the fused end pointing lengthways down the tunnel. Cover the hole gently with earth and make sure that the tunnels leading away from the mole hill are also well covered, so smoke does not leak out. Repeat as required using 1 smoke per 3 molehills. Natural Mole Smokes may be stored ready for a mole emergency! Currently unavailable.

 N.B. The other way to stop moles is to drive away their food i.e. worms by lowering the pH of your lawn.  Apply Sulphur Lawn when worms are at their most active i.e. after periods of heavy rain i.e. NOW to lower the pH of your lawn, driving the worms away. Sulphur Lawn - Drive away worms (without harming them) and stop wormcasts by lowering the pH of your lawn. Worms are good for the garden, helping to aerate the soil and mix in organic matter. In the lawn however, they or rather their worm casts can be a real nuisance as worm casts ruin the appearance of a fine lawn. Ignoring them by squashing them flat with your mower will create an uneven surface, smother existing grass & provide an ideal seed bed for weeds to grow. Worms do not like acidic conditions, (but your lawn does!), so the more acidic your lawn, the less problem worms and their casts will be. Discourage worm activity and stop wormcasts by applying Sulphur Lawn to lower the pH of your lawn.

Which product is best for my lawn?

1. For all lawns up to 100sqm use Sulphur Lawn Spray On.
2. For larger lawns up to 200 sqm that are slightly acidic use Sulphur Lawn Spray On.
3. For large lawns over 200 sqm and all alkaline lawns (pH 7+) use Sulphur Lawn Granules.
